I graduated with a Business/Econ degree from Westmont College in ‘82.  The college years included a European semester and two int’l summer tours playing for Athletes in Action baseball.  After graduation, I signed on as a Club Director and player/coach in Sweden and coached the team to their first national championship. After three seasons in Europe, I finally “settled down and got a real job” back in San Diego, but what an experience.

In my off-seasons during the Swedish baseball years, Coach Henzie hired me as a substitute teacher back at CHS. Little did I know that my future wife transferred out of CHS just a week before I came to work on campus.  In God’s providence, Nichole and I met 3 years later. (I was 25, she was 18 – yes, a true cradle robber.) Despite the ackward “Hi Nichole, Hi Mr. DeSaegher” from her friends/my students when we first started dating, we married when she graduated from UCSD, and we’ll celebrate our 20th anniversary in December.  Nichole is definitely the highlight of my life.

Nichole’s been a full-time mom since leaving teaching.  For the past 12 years (wow – time flies), I’ve enjoyed business management roles within Qualcomm, but always with a new business interest on the side, the latest being video production. I recently produced some promos for our own Al Menconi.

We’ve been blessed with 4 incredible kids that keep our lives full.  Our family is everything to us, and seeing them all grow up with a personal relationship with Jesus is a dream come true.  On to bragging time...

  • Jake, 15, is at Scripps Ranch HS, plays club soccer, and was ranked 11th in the county for freshman 800m track.
  • Elli, 14, just completed 8th grade, made honor roll in her first year at The Bishop’s School, played volleyball, soccer (and beat CJHS), and had a solo in the Godspell production.
  • Riley, 8, our social queen (having never met a cell phone that she didn’t like), loves her animals and keeps the family laughing with her humor.
  • Ryan, 7, loves baseball, soccer, math, video games, and hanging with his big brother.

Look forward to seeing all of you!  Dan, oops, Danny
