After CHS, I joined the Navy and became certified in computer technology, then served at sea during the Reagan years at peacetime. After the Navy, I worked for technology companies in the San Diego area until an opportunity came up in Colorado. There are higher mountains there, so I had to go. I returned to active Naval Reserves and served during Desert Storm in an intelligence unit.
I have been an Engineer at Sun Microsystems for 11 years. Working in computer technology has taken me to many interesting places. I live in a mountain cabin near a town of 1300 people called Nederland, Colorado. My place is at 8640 ft. elevation and just a few miles from the 13,000 ft. peaks of the Continental divide. Boulder is the closest large city. I mostly work from home, its a high tech cabin.
I have a daughter 23 years old and a grandson that just turned 4. They live near Denver, and I see them often. The pictures are of me, my daughter and grandson, and their pets taken from my deck which overlooks the town 400 ft. below.
It's just my dog and I at the cabin, and going into that would open up several more chapters. I do have a sweetheart down on the flatland. It is interesting to see the status of others from the class of '78. My younger brothers that are also alumni - one works in the FBI and lives in Virginia, and the other owns & operates a Fast Signs business and lives in Poway. My older brother also lives in Colorado with his family, and is a truck driver. He went to Granite Hills HS.
I wish everyone good health and happiness. |
