After high school, I actually started a brief stint in the construction field that had me building the CHS Gymdenburg with Rochester Construction.  After one semester at SDSU, I went to Tulsa Oklahoma for 2.5 years of flight and mechanics school for an Associates Degree in Applied Aerospace Engineering. I returned to SD in the early 80’s and began my intended career (following in my father’s footsteps) of working on and flying airplanes at both Gillespie Field and Montgomery.  In 1986 my career took a turn in a different direction… while I was going through the selection process to become a Naval Aviator… my father was suddenly killed in a flying accident up near Sacramento.  Instantly, my dream and desire to fly, disappeared… at least to pursue it as a career (I still peer towards the heavens whenever I hear a plane go over and currently fly…er…ride an airplane commercially about every week… and tune into the tower communications for the full 4 hour flight) J At that point… I enrolled back into SDSU where I graduated 8 years later (seemed like anyway) with a B.S. in Finance.

Later in the 80’s I married and enjoyed a wonderful marriage for 13 years in which we were blessed with great memories and three wonderful boys. I wouldn’t trade those years nor my boys for anything in the world but unfortunately the marriage died in early 2003.  Casey (15) sadly for him looks just like me only taller, Jesse (13) has blue eyes and blonde hair and is even left-handed like his mom and Trevor (12) is a mix of both of us.  I love them dearly and wouldn’t trade being a dad for anything.

Career-wise, I’ve had some very interesting projects that I’ve helped build.  Mostly being involved on the project management team for local projects like the trolley extension up through Old Town, Mission Valley West to Qualcomm, and the extension out to Santee, after that, I helped build the Chip Factory in Albuquerque for the first Pentium Processor for Intel, then came back locally and had a hand in building both Petco Park for the Padres and the underground tunnel/station for the Trolley under SDSU. In early 2004 I went to Iraq for the first of two tours that had me building hospitals for the people of Iraq and I was able to meet people like Colin Powel, Condi Rice, General’s Casey and Petraeus, Peter Jennings and… was one of a very small handful of “non-arab” people to be with Saddam and see him alive, just weeks before he was executed.  As a side note and for the record, yes there were WMD in Iraq… there was a Biblical reason for us to take Saddam out that no news will ever talk about… Yes we need to stay in Iraq, and we are doing great and wonderful things there, again that the news won’t talk about…there is a huge Christian revival in Iraq that is miraculous… and if you believe the Bible, you should be watching closely and praying hard about everything that is going on over there specifically for the next 6 to 12 months (include our military in those prayers!!!).

Last, I hope to talk to you all more at the reunion and can’t wait to see you.  I am divorced but its not contagious so don’t be afraid to talk to me… God is good and is still in control, in the world and in my life… Jer. 29:11, James 3:17, Ps. 34:18, and… Lam.3:20 – 25!!!
